The water of the cooling towers can be treated very effectively
with ozone for the control of algae, slime and microorganisms
in the water and for the control of bacteria in the dispersion
plume of the tower in the air. Incidental benefits of ozone treatment
might be substantial conservation of water, reduced scaling and
no toxic materials in the wastewater discharge. However, the careful
consideration of make-up water quality, air quality in the area
and cooling requirements placed on the tower must be made for
a well designed well operating system.
BAI has been involved in the development of this technology for
some twenty years conducting pilot studies, system design retrofitting
and system evaluations throughout the country from Florida to
Vermont and to California.
